Zixin Zheng is a second-year graduate student at California State University, Los Angeles, pursuing an Ed.S. in School Psychology with an additional certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). She is passionate about supporting students' mental health, advocating for equity in education, and implementing evidence-based interventions to help children succeed.
Zixin has gained diverse experience working with children and their families in school and clinical settings. Previously, as a tutor, she provided academic support while helping students build confidence and motivation to learn. Currently, she works as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), delivering behavioral interventions and one-on-one support to students with disabilities, particularly those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In this role, she helps children develop essential communication, social, and adaptive skills while implementing individualized behavior intervention plans to address challenging behaviors. Her current research interests focus on how marginalized identities and intersectionality, such as disability and racial/ethnic background, shape students' experiences within educational systems.
She is particularly interested in understanding how these factors impact mental health, self-esteem, and academic achievement, as well as exploring inclusive practices that can promote students' well-being and success. She aims to identify effective interventions that address systemic barriers and enhance equity in education by ensuring that all students receive the support they need to reach their full potential.
In her free time, Zixin enjoys playing tennis and baking. She also loves traveling, experiencing different cultures, and trying new and unique local foods.
